As mental health therapist Jeremy Houtsma has been providing counseling services to individuals for over 14 years. Jeremy has always been enamored with the power of music and the musicians who create it. As an 18-year-old in NJ, Jeremy fell in love with the bands coming out of the NJ/NY emo/post-hardcore scene. In his early 20s, he spent his time going to shows, manning merch tables, helping promote local shows, and playing in his own bands. Jeremy wanted to combine his love for music and the musicians he admired with his profession as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor; thus, Safe in Sound was born.

Safe in Sound offers a unique look at how music and mental health intersect, featuring musicians and mental health professionals. You’ll hear personal stories of struggle, triumph, grief, doubt, and healing. You’ll also hear experts and mental health professionals discuss mental health from a professional standpoint.
